Director, Client Development

Role:
The Director, Client Development is responsible for developing business opportunities and growing agency revenue with the acquisition of new client business and through expansion of new capabilities and into new categories.
Responsibilities:
As the agency growth engine, the Director will work with the team to tap networks, develop business plans and goals, grow the firm and explore new technologies and partners to expand the firm’s capabilities. The role is responsible for directing the agency’s marketing efforts and capitalizing on opportunities to create awareness by creating a marketing plan to grow visibility with social media, PR, attendance at key functions/events/conferences tied to business objectives and growth goals. The position will help to determine key categories, targets and contacts, and a strategy for connecting (using Thorburn’s online tools and platforms). The Director leads pitches, works with the agency’s internal teams (creative, digital, project management) and manages RFPs. This role will also support the client management/account team as needed, particularly when onboarding new clients until a proper handoff occurs.
Skills:
  • 10+ years of successful business development history, leading RFPs, pitches and growing business in a marketing services, advertising, digital and/or PR firm
  • A deep understanding of agency new business processes and ideas for improvement
  • Experience with RFPs, leading the process, refining responses and presenting
  • Passion for the business and passionate about growing it
  • Solid understanding of account profitability and financial management
  • Outstanding leadership, communications and presentation skills
  • Collaborative, inclusive team player, a strong sense of responsibility to team
  • Strongly skilled in Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, knowledge of Salesforce a plus
  • Guru with PowerPoint presentations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or equivalent
